Product Licensing
As with many products, some Greco Systems software products
are sold subject to license limitations which are enforced by the use of special software
and a hardware key or dongle. In our case, we are mostly interested in the number of
machines you can use it with, though sometimes other options and applications are sold and
licensed separately.
We have expended considerable effort to make this process
as painless as possible. In the simplest case, you get a license code that is tied to a
particular hardware key. Initially, the license code enables the product for some fixed
period of time. This lets you get everything installed and validated. If necessary, we can
give you, over the phone or fax, an updated license code to extend the time limit. Once
the system is completed and paid for, you get a permanent license code with no further
time limits.
Server-Based Licensing
If you have a lot of workstations, keeping track of all
those licenses and keys can be a large hassle, so we fixed that (provided your
workstations are connected to a network).
With Server-Based Licensing, any workstation on your
network can be designated a license server. We then provide license code(s) that specifies
how many copies of each product you can use. You can assign those individual licenses (or
groups of licenses) to the individual workstations as needed, and move them around as
needed. Only two workstations need hardware keys installed. Because two hardware keys are
present on the network, one of them can fail or be otherwise unavailable without affecting
your licensed products. This provides for greater reliability and maintenance convenience.
